UPDATE: Cake Poker has stopped accepting USA players and rebranded to ‘Win Cake’. Apart from not accepting Americans, there have been reports of payout problems. Avoid Win Cake and join one of the poker sites listed on the right (it’s below for mobile users) instead. What follows is our old Cake Poker review.
Cake Poker is not only offering a 110% bonus that could be worth up to $600 to welcome their new USA based customers but are also providing them with a ticket to their $500 New Depositor Freeroll poker tournament. We will give more details of the bonuses later in this Cake Poker review.
Once you have become a Cake Poker customer they offer plenty of sweeteners to keep you playing with them. All players are rewarded for taking part in real money games and tournaments and there are regular reload bonuses.
Cake are particularly proud of their reward systems which they claim are the most innovative you will find anywhere in the poker industry. They even give randomly generated Gold Cards to players in real money ring games. That means you do not have to stake a certain amount of money to receive one. You may receive a Gold Card even if you decide to fold! Cake Poker’s Gold Cards provide recipients with access to in excess of $100,000 in prizes and cash each month.
Gold Cards are also a tradable asset. You can sell a Gold Card for cash or buy one if you need to to gain entrance to a particular Gold Card tournament.
Cake Poker will email you to let you know about reload bonuses or you can check the details of the latest bonuses in the News Window within Cake’s software. There is also a generous $100 bonus available for each friend you refer to Cake. That could really boost your account if you have plenty of poker loving friends from the USA looking for a place to play online.
Unlike many other gaming websites which offer not just poker but casino and sports betting action, Cake Poker is entirely dedicated to the game. It was designed by poker players for poker players and it shows.
About Cake Poker
Cake Poker opened their tables in 2006 aiming to provide players of all levels with a very rewarding and entertaining experience. They do not just look after the fat cats and even offer rewards that are not linked to your volume of play.
They were the first and founding poker site on the Cake Network which is open to players across the world as well as those based in the USA. If speed of your withdrawals is your priority then Intertops Poker, also part of the Cake network, may be a better way in. In the course of this review we found that Intertops has never had an issue with their withdrawals while Cake has attracted some complaints on that specific issue.
Cake Poker is fully licensed and regulated by the Government of Curacao (Netherland Antilles), a recognized regulatory location for online casino and poker firms.
There are play money games as well as cash games if you want to enjoy playing without financial commitment. You will find plenty of heads up action as well as sit and goes and multi table tourneys.
Playing at Cake Poker
At Cake Poker you will find plenty of Texas Hold’em and Omaha (including Omaha HiLo) action and generous guaranteed prizes. Whichever tournament or game you choose, you will be impressed by the quality of the graphics. Unlike many other poker sites, you do not need to reach for your sunglasses or adjust your screen brightness settings if you are going to be playing for some time. The 3D graphics and muted colours that you find throughout provide a superior visual experience to almost any you will encounter elsewhere.
There is a wide range of tournament types on offer and they are all fully explained if you click on the Tournament Type heading under the Tournaments tab. Tournament formats include multi table, heads up, sit and go, re-buy and add-on, freeze out, bounty, shootout, satellites (including satellites to live events offline), freeroll and reward. If you are short of time you will even find Turbo tournaments that really speed up the action if you have not got very long to play.
Cake Poker is universally praised for its software. Not only does the site look good but it provides useful resizing options for those of you who like to multi table without the hassle of clicking different tabs. Most importantly Cake’s software is extremely reliable and stable. You will not hear of any system malfunctions or crashes.
Customer service is provided by people who really know their poker. The only downside is that the only way that you can contact them is by email. Cake Poker are yet to provide telephone based support. On the positive side, there are rarely any issues that would leave you desperate to shout at a human being at this site and email response time whilst not spectacular, are reasonably timely and truly 24 hour. One major minus is that there is a history of the withdrawals taking longer than ideal.
Cake Poker 110% Welcome Bonus up to $600
Joining and making your first deposit is very easy. There are plenty of methods for depositing money that are free of any charge. You will have 90 days from the date of your first deposit to benefit from your 110% Welcome Bonus. That is a month longer than some poker sites give you to accumulate the Frequent Player Points necessary to earn your maximum bonus amount of $600. As always, the bonus will be paid into your account in stages, with Cake it is paid to you in five dollar increments. You can earn Frequent Player (FPP) points by taking part in real money ring games and tournaments. In those cash ring games, every dollar of rake will earn you one FPP. In tournaments, the FPPs are allocated according to the fee you pay for taking part. Each dollar you pay to play in a real money tournament will earn you 7FPPs. Your 90 day window of welcome bonus opportunity starts from the day you make your first deposit, not the first day you decide to play for real money.
Cake Poker Review Summary & Conclusion
Cake Poker has succeeded in providing a great poker site with a very tempting welcome bonus for new customers. Not only is there the 110% welcome bonus worth up to $600 but there is also a ticket for a $500 New Depositor freeroll poker tournament. If you get lucky you could earn up to $1,100.
Cake also offer an industry leading range of rewards for their existing players. They are particularly strong on freerolls and benefits for customers who do not always have the time or money to play regularly.
Our one word of warning comes about a small number of complaints relating to speed of withdrawals. This may be a historic problem rather than a current one but it is a concern nonetheless. Obviously everyone wants withdrawals processed rapidly and so they should be or it brings a poker site, and the whole industry, into disrepute. Because of this we reckon you should consider joining the Cake Network via Intertops Poker, who have never given their USA players any cause for worry about withdrawals. This way you will be playing on the same tables and will even receive the same bonus structure as you would have with Cake Poker.
