Lock Poker has stopped paying its players. This site is run by dishonest crooks. Do not deposit any money at Lock Poker – you will never get anything back. We are also owed money by them and it has been outstanding for a couple of years. The site is fraudulent and a total scam. It is worse than a Ponzi scheme as at Lock nobody gets paid. Little wonder the long list of professional players once happy to be associated with them has dwindled down to nothing. Latest rumors are LockPoker.eu has closed for good, let’s hope it stays that way. Join one of the honest firms on the right (below for mobile users).
What follows is the Lock Poker review that we used to have before they turned into a criminal, rogue, scam outfit:
Lock Poker really wants you to start playing with them and is currently offering new USA based players a 150% welcome bonus which could add as much as $750 to your bankroll. That is one of the best sign up bonuses available online.
150% is 50% higher than most and the maximum bonus value exceeds the level available at the vast majority of poker rooms we review too. Make sure you enter the promo code: LOCK150 before depositing to ensure you are eligible for the bonus offer.
New depositors are also invited to try their luck and skill in a $500 freeroll which takes place on a daily basis.
About Lock Poker
Lock Poker are not the longest established poker room out there but they are becoming a very popular site for American players given the lack of sites now serving the United States. They have offered online action since 2007. The quality of their room has led to endorsements being given by some of the biggest online poker stars, though these seals of approval do not tend to come for no reward. Take a look at the Lock Poker Website for a list of all the pros play there. Who knows, you might knock one of two of them out of an online tournament.
Like many, Lock Poker is licensed in Kahnawake near Montreal, Canada and, more importantly, they are part of the Merge Network who are known for providing plenty of players online and a larger than average choice of games. You are also assured of an extremely safe, secure and reliable platform as well as great proprietary software when you are playing on Merge. Merge’s unique gaming software has passed the most stringent testing procedures.
Whilst Lock Poker is definitely keen to attract more USA based players, they have had administrative problems processing transactions from the US in the past. In June 2011 Lock had to stop accepting new American players in order to catch up with a backlog which was related to a specific promotion that caused a number of issues. It took over four months to do so and it was mid October 2011 before they were once again able to open their doors to new United States residents. We suspect they learned a big and valuable lesson from that and there have been no issues since.
Playing Poker at Lock Poker
The number of players is always displayed on the home page at the bottom of the box displaying the current welcome bonus. You know immediately exactly how many other players are out there although you will have to go a little further to find out the number of tables and tournaments in action.
Being part of the Merge network, as Carbon Poker also is, means that there are not just plenty of other players online but that you will always have an awesome range of poker games to choose from, whatever time of day it suits you to sit down and play.
If you review the games on offer you will see they include the ever popular Texas Hold’em in all its different guises including masses of cash ring games and tournaments with a wide range of buy-in levels. You can choose to play with play money or almost any amount of real money up to $25/$50 blinds stakes. There are also a number of freerolls every day. You will also find Omaha poker in both HiLo and the conventional form of the game. As the most popular game after Hold’em, there are plenty of tournaments and ring games.
Other games include Stud Poker, 7 Card Stud, Razz and Draw Poker including Badugi and Triple Draw. Badugi and Triple Draw are offered in limit and pot limit formats. There are also occasional Badugi cash games.
Lock Poker look after their loyal players with a four level VIP program. All levels provide access to a VIP $10,000 monthly freeroll, the VIP Vault and give double VIP points for play on Thursdays and Fridays. There is also a daily cashback benefit ranging from 10% to 35% depending on your VIP level. 1,000 VIP points per calendar month have to be accrued to reach the lowest, White VIP level. 50,000 VIP points have to be accumulated per month to achieve the highest Black VIP Elite level. VIP points are earned by participating in ring games and tournaments. You also have to earn VIP points to clear your welcome bonus. There are more details on their website.
Deposits and Payouts at Lock Poker
If you would like to use the same method for depositing money and receiving payouts, Click2Pay, eWalletXpress and UseMyWallet are the only options available to USA based customers. There is a 10% fee (up to $150) for eWalletXpress payouts. You can deposit money using your Visa card but not receive payouts to it. Americans can receive payouts by check but this is always going to take longer than with the above mentioned methods.
Checks generally take 15 to 20 business days so it is best to avoid this method if you are in a hurry to receive your money. However some other USA friendly sites take longer. You will also be required to submit verification documents before a check is issued. Be prepared to scan and email an accepted form of photo ID such as a passport or driver’s license as well as proof of your bank details and your address. This may be frustrating and time consuming but it is standard practice across the industry to ensure that funds are only paid out to the appropriate person. This Lock Poker review is not the first one you will have read on this site that stipulates these requirements.
Minimum and maximum deposit levels vary depending upon the method you choose to deposit your money but minimum deposits are just US$10 with Click2Pay and UseMyWallet. The maximum amounts that can be deposited by these methods are $500 and $2,500 respectively.
Lock Poker Review Verdict
It provides an impressive 150% welcome bonus for new American poker players and a generous VIP program to encourage you to keep playing with them. There is a good number and range of games and tournaments to choose from thanks to the Merge network although the majority of the action takes place for fairly low stakes.
Whilst our review shows 2011 was not the best year for this LP there have been no serious issues reported before or since. Lock Poker now compares favourably with many USA friendly poker rooms and the welcome bonus alone is a good reason to consider registering with them.
